Day 11 of implemenation 20.7.2021


This is probably one of my last devlogs before the exam from Introduction to game development today, for which this project is for. 

I finished polishing main menu, so now it is nice and neat, and added controls menu, that shows layout on the keyboard. 

Then I implemented spawning of shotgun and ak47. At first there was this annoying bug, that when a gun spawned on two objects (like a platform and player), both of these objects would trigger on trigger enter and the gun would respawn into two guns instead into just one. This also triggered several times a chain reaction and guns started uncontrollably spawning over another ones which triggered more spawning, so it froze my Unity and I had to kill it. This should be fixed now, I added a check that the on trigger enter is called only once. 

So now players can pick up better guns, when the gun is picked, it is automatically switched to it. You can also destroy and respawn the pickable gun by shooting it. You can also cancel other persons bullets by your own bullets. 

Overall I am pleased with the work I've done so far. I implemented everything important before the exam. There are still bugs going on, and an in game stats of players missing (thats what the dark space under the map is for), but generally this version of game is pretty much playable. I will continue developing it for my other university courses, I plan to add LAN compatibility, maybe some sounds and music, add some cool stuff into the map, maybe more maps, eventually possibly turning it into an online game. 

For the non university readers, if you would like me to add some specific flag as a skin, just comment underneath, I'll check it out. For now there is only few flags available, as I didn't want to spend way too much time drawing them while there was an implementation pending.
