Week 2 - One Page Design - GameDev journal entry 24.3.2021


After finishing my tutorial on 2D Game kit from Unity, I created my own One Page level game design based on it. The designing itself went smooth, it took about 1.5 hour as predicted, but I also spent about 1-2 hours on tutorials on Inkscape vector graphics editor, in which I later on created the one page design. 

The design itself is quite simple. Player starts at the bottom of the map in the dungeon full of monsters and tries to reach the sunny and flowery surface where nobody suffers anymore. There is in the total three keys, that the player needs to collect in order to get the surface door unlocked. The path is made harder by monsters and poison tank, which both can kill the player. After every three monsters there is medkit to restore users health. There are also very tiny puzzles with boxes, thats needs to be pushed to some another place in order to make progress in the game. 

My level design is composed of just only scene, to make the game bigger with more scenes, it would be possible to add more underground screnes, before the player reaches the surface. The scenes could also get harder with progres in the game, the puzzles could be progressively more complex and there could also be more monsters.
